Studio News After Hiatus

Hey there! Its been a while 🌝 How're you all doing? I hope you're well and looking out for each other.

I'm slowly getting back to my studio after hiatus. Everything feels tender and fresh. I plan to follow Curiosity for while and see where it leads. It would be fun to have your company on the journey 😊

Remember this little sculpture? Its wearing a bronze patina now and I'm here for it. Patina (using bronze ink and a couple of splashes of smokey plum and black inks too) is a fabulous way to test drive my ideas for future creativity.  This feels like a it will be so fun to explore.

Are you with me? 🥰

Mixed Media Bas Relief Sculpture, framed. Bronze patina.

Renée Fukumoto 2023

I’m still imagining sculpting in bronze and silver metal clays to translate my curiosity and observations of beloved animals and landscapes to life in bas relief and fully dimensional pieces.

There will be a learning curve and I think I have the energy now to brave these challenges. Bronze metal clay can be tricky to fire properly. I also want to use sand casting to create small sculpture and wearable art. I must remember to take it a small step at a time.

I hope to be able to offer commissioned portraits of beloved animals, pets and places in the next few months. If you’re interested in commissioning a piece for yourself or as a truly one of a kind gift, please join my Studio Friends email list. I’ll be opening Commissions to my Studio Friends first.
